What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is an ancient system of alternative medicine that originated in India more than five thousand years ago. Ayurveda uses non-invasive methods of assessment such as pulse and tongue evaluation to detect imbalances in the intricate subtle energy system of the human body. Ayurveda offers natural ways of rebalancing and harmonizing these energies to create a state of synergy in the functioning of the physiology. Meditation, herbal therapy, dietary and lifestyle recommendations are some of the modalities that Ayurveda uses to promote natural healing. As a holistic approach, Ayurveda takes into consideration both physical as well as mental and emotional aspects of the individual’s wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on developing spiritual awareness as the basis for health.

What is Ayurveda Good For?

Ayurveda provides guidance in the healing process, self-care and prevention. In a truly holistic fashion, it encompasses all levels of life – the Mind, Body and Soul, and combines the knowledge and benefits of many different natural therapies to create a healing plan best suited to the individual. In this way, we can consciously and effectively rebalance and nurture ourselves by tailoring diet, spiritual development and natural treatments to our Prakriti (body type) and Vikriti (type of imbalance).

What Can I Expect from a Session/Series of Sessions?

During session, the practioner will assess imbalances in the subtle energy system of the body by using the pulse technique. You will come to an understanding of the cause of these imbalances. The practitioner will then give you recommendations to correct them and create balance in the functioning of the body.
